The Grass is Getting Greener

Homestead’s championship course is being thoughtfully reimagined—each hole redesigned to challenge and inspire golfers at every level. Originally designed by Bruce Summerhays and reinvented by John Fought—former US Amateur Champion and PGA Tour Rookie of the Year—the course will be rebuilt from the ground up. Upon re-opening in Fall 2027, the transformation will feature redesigned greens, striking new bunkers, a one-of-a-kind double green on holes 9 and 18, an expansive putting course, an elevated clubhouse with simulators, and sweeping fairways framed by mountain views. More than a course, it will be a golf destination all its own.

A Reimagined Golf Experience in the Heart of Midway

Opening in Fall 2027, Homestead’s reimagined championship course will bring a new era of play to Midway. You’ll have access to a new state-of-the-art Pro Shop with an indoor golf simulator for year-round play, along with hitting bays and a warm-up area equipped with eight mats and shot tracer technology, a short game area with a professional-grade bunker complex, a game-improvement putting green, and an expansive putting surface shaped by unique undulations for elevated play.

What is happening to the golf course?

The Homestead Golf Course is undergoing a complete renovation led by award-
winning architect John Fought. The project includes:

New irrigation systems for water efficiency.
Redesigned greens, tees, and fairways.
Improved cart paths and landscaping.
A course layout that elevates both playability and sustainability.

Will the golf course be public, private, or semi-private?

When renovations are complete, the course will operate as a semi-private club. This
model allows us to maintain the course at the highest level while still welcoming local
community members and guests in various ways. Membership options are available,
along with opportunities for limited public play for guests of the hotel.

When will the course reopen?

Renovations are extensive and expected to take time to ensure quality and
sustainability. The anticipated reopening is summer 2027. We will provide regular
updates as progress continues.

Why is the course closed for so long?

This is more than a refresh—it’s a full redesign. The soil, irrigation, turf grass, and
course features require time to establish properly. While it may look like “just cleanup”
now, the work happening ensures that when the course reopens, it will be world-class
and built to thrive for decades.

Why were so many trees removed from the golf course?

We understand tree removal can feel concerning. As part of the renovation, we worked
closely with arborists and course designers to assess tree health. Several trees were
diseased or infested with boxelder bugs, creating safety and environmental risks.
Others were removed strategically to restore turf health, improve irrigation efficiency,
and align with the redesign vision from golf course architect John Fought. Our goal is
to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for the course and surrounding
neighborhood.

What about the impact on Snake Creek and surrounding properties?

We are working closely with Midway Irrigation Company and environmental experts to
ensure all renovations are managed responsibly. Protecting natural
resources—including Snake Creek—is a top priority throughout the project.

The course appears to be under construction—what improvements or maintenance efforts are currently underway?

Renovations can look disruptive, but what you see is part of the necessary process.
Clearing, grading, and reseeding must take place before the beautiful finished course
takes shape. Once complete, the new design will bring enhanced beauty and long-term
value to the Homestead property and neighborhood.

What other improvements can guests and members expect to see when the course reopens?

As part of Homestead’s multi-phase transformation, guests and members can expect an
elevated clubhouse experience with indoor golf simulators, enhanced proshop, lounge
spaces, fitness center, and locker rooms. Guests and members will also have access to
a brand new 18-hole putting course, replacing the previous practice putting green.

How can the community stay informed?

We will post regular updates on the Homestead website and provide progress photos,
timelines, and answers to common questions. Our goal is to keep neighbors and guests
updated and engaged throughout the renovation journey.
