A Legacy of Hospitality

In 1864, Swiss immigrants Maria and Simon Schneitter settled in Midway, Utah, drawn by verdant valleys and snow-capped mountains reminiscent of home.

While farming the land, Simon discovered a massive geothermal hot spring—later known as Schneitter’s Hot Pot.

The mineral-rich spring quickly became a local attraction, transforming the Schneitter farm into the valley’s first resort. Simon’s son Jake and his wife Fanny carried on the tradition for 60 years, with Fanny’s home-cooked meals becoming legendary. Over time, this simple hospitality offering evolved into the Homestead we know today, a cherished retreat where neighbors and travelers have gathered for generations.
